Featured OOOTeries: March

March 3, 2017

OOOTing would not be possible without the growing OOOTeries across North America who are happy to open their doors during their off-peak hours and welcome in remote workers and business travelers seeking out a place to land, meet clients, and enjoy some delicacies while they're at it. This month we feature three fantastic Toronto-based OOOTeries and take a closer look at their distinctive spaces, their delicious menus, and the sweet deals they have to offer the Toronto community of OOOTers.

Located in the bustling financial district at Richmond and Bay Streets, Maëzo isn’t just a hot spot for business lunchers; its unique fusion food offerings appeal to a wide variety of diners, including a mixture of families, couples, and singles. An ample space with a bar, and both private and common dining areas, the daytime atmosphere is quiet and intimate, with free Wi-Fi and comfy seats. After 8pm, the space usually changes as Maëzo transforms into a bar scene. OOOTers who stop by Maëzo will be treated to $5.99 drinks during the Happy Hour (4pm-7pm), and 10% off of appetizers. If you are a fan of diverse flavours, Maëzo's food offerings will not disappoint: their offerings are inspired by Indian, Italian, and Mexican cuisine: Somosadillas, Bombay Sloppy Joes, and lamb chops with tomato rice are gems you will discover on the exciting menu. Visit this OOOTery if you're in the market for a comfortable space, an eclectic menu, a great deal, and a central location.

With locations in two of Toronto's hippest neighbourhoods, Leslieville and the Beaches, Skwish offers OOOTers free Wi-Fi, a laid-back modern setting, and a welcoming gastro pub-like ambiance. Attracting an over-30 crowd that enjoys fresh food and live music, this OOOTery takes pride in providing customers with a genuine experience, right down to the food prep: Skwish doesn't own a freezer and, under the direction of Head Chef Robin Prasad, they make their food fresh on a daily basis! Make sure to try one of their signature dishes, including the Steak Frites, or one of their celebrated hamburgers (which are aged in-house for 56 days!). And for those who believe variety is the spice of life, this spot offers a selection of over 25 lines of tap beer (as well as wine on tap for the sommeliers out there). If you're looking for excellent service, and dedicated and friendly staff, this is your scene. And one more thing: Skwish offers 15% off the total bill of any OOOTers who pay them a visit!

If your heart is warmed by the thought of home cooking, Old School on Dundas West is your scene. Complete with a bar (in the Black Room), restaurant (in their White Room), and a General Store that serves up coffee and treats for Toronto's cafe-lovers, Old School has a diverse space that can accommodate many of your workspace needs. OOOTers will love the free Wi-Fi, trendy vibe, great music and creative crowd that flock here. The classic, yet modern, diner-like atmosphere is enjoyed by a versatile crowd, including children, college kids, business folks, and large families. Executive Chef Marcus Monteiro's menu provides delicious options to help fuel your workday or client meeting: try the "Blueberry Hill" (five fluffy blueberry pancakes drizzled with blueberry sauce), or a few (or many!) strips of their "Butcher's Crack" (otherwise known as house-made sugared bacon!). Really, with waffles, pancakes, smoked meats, and fried chicken at the ready, all of your food-fantasy needs are taken care of! And, if you find yourself OOOTing on the weekend, this place serves food for 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Old School will definitely appeal to OOOTers who enjoy a 10% discount (except during the busy weekend brunch-time between 8am and 5pm) and a fun, welcoming space with rich comfort food at their fingertips.
